Empire Welcomes Three New Teams for the
2012-2013 Season
The League’s Geographic Center moves 13 miles East as we welcome the Adirondack Jr Wings, the Connecticut Oilers and the Portland Junior Pirates to the fold for the 2012-2013 campaign. All three teams have purchased franchises from Empire members. The Oilers (Norwalk, CT) and Pirates (Saco, ME) are the new owners of the CD and Glades franchises respectively and are second clubs of their EJHL franchises. The Jr Wings purchased the dormant Uncle Sam’s franchise in Troy, NY. Uncle Sam’s was a founding member of the Empire League in 1997. Feature articles and tryout information on each club will appear on the site shortly as we begin the transition from last season to next season. Meanwhile, check out these links www.adirondackjrwings.com , www.ctoilers.com , www.jrpirates.pucksystems2.com

These are exciting developments for the League…stay tuned.

Other junior leagues that had more college placements than the Empire League were the USHL, NAHL, and the Eastern League. Thirty Empire League players were on a Division 1 roster this past season. Two teams were tied in leading the league in placements; the Jr. Bruins organization and New Hampshire both with 11. Following them was New York Applecore with 10, the Falcons with 8, South Shore/Foxboro with 7, Capital District, Maksymum, and Valley each with 6. Western New England College had the most former Empire League players with 7. Framingham State and Franklin Pierce both had 5 and Mass-Lowell, Southern New Hampshire, and Johnson & Wales each had 4.
