Empire Players/Coach of the Month Selectees, December 2009
Coach: Richie Alger
Coach Alger posted a perfect 6-0 record in December with his Bandits team and is keeping them well in the playoff hunt in the always tough Eastern Conference.
Rich played for the Junior Bruins, then went to play juniors in Saskatchewan. College hockey included UMASS Amherst and 3 seasons at Boston University. While with the Terriers, Alger enjoyed a national championship as well as three consecutive BeanPots. He then attended the Quebec Nordiques’ training camp.
Prior to working with the Bridgewater Bandits and Hub City Hockey, Coach Alger was the Assistant Coach at Cape Cod Tech. He also coached at Dynamic Skating School, Garry Hebert, and Gary Dineen Hockey School.
In addition to Coaching the Empire team, Alger has served as an assistant coach for the Bandits EJ team for last 5 years.

Frank is a versatile Defenseman from South Jersey who also can play the forward position when called upon. His productive December included 3 goals and 10 assists in 7 games. 4 of these points came on the power play. Overall totals are 8 goals and 17 assists for the season as of year end. Frank attends Long Beach High School and is slated to take a spot on next year's EJ team.

This South Florida native had a torrid December, posting 18 points in 7 games.Of his 9 goals scored, 2 were game winners, 2 came on the power play and one was shorthanded. Ron's December performance was enough to vault him to the league's scoring lead, with 24 goals, 30 assists and 54 total points. In his 2nd year with Apple Core, this team Captain has drawn the interest of several Colleges and is weighing his options for next season.
Players: Kevin Venturoso
After an average start this season, Kevin went on a tear in December, going 4-0 with two shutouts and an incredible .500 GAA and .983 Sv% for the month. This was enough to solidify a position well within the top 10 of the league by any measurement.
Kevin is a 93 birth year and is in his second year with Bridgewater. He is a butterfly style goalie with D I size and a D I work ethic. His off season regimen is intense, combining off ice training in the gym with goaltender training with goalie coach Mike Doneghey. He is a festival kid, and a draft pick of Cedar Rapids in the USHL. He has , and when he's playing and practicing the way he has been he's on track to be a great college hockey player.
