Scott Montagna Coach: Scott Montagna
Team: Syracuse Stars
The Syracuse Stars got off to an excellent 7-0 start in September until Coach Montagna's tutelage. Scott is back with the B team after a tour of duty with the Junior A Stars. Coach Montagna has been involved in hockey for over 30 years as a player and a coach. A native of Marquette, MI, Scott played midget hockey for the storied Marquette Electricians, before Junior A and B tours in the USA and Canada. He played college hockey for the Oswego State Lakers. Coach Montagna has been with the Stars organization for the past decade, coaching the successful 92AAA team throughout their minor hockey tenure and then moving to the B and A level. Coach Montagna has been on staff with ProStar Hockey as a scout and evaluator and has been a scout for the Central Scouting Branch of the USHL developed by Prospects Hockey. He has worked as an evaluator for the NY Region USA Select Camps for years. He is involved at all levels in the Syracuse Stars Prospects program as a coach and coordinator and has been the VP of Player Development for MYHA for the past several seasons. Coach Montagna has a firm belief in discipline and hard work leading to results on the ice and looks forward to being involved with the Syracuse Stars Junior Hockey Program

syracuse stars Player: Derrick Eccles
Position: Defenseman
Team: Syracuse Stars
Derrick led all League defensemen in scoring during September with 6 goals and 6 helpers. He also did a tremendous job of running the Syracuse PP tallying 9 of his points with the man advantage. Derrick, son of Walt and Kim Eccles, is also a very talented lacrosse player who is doing very well in school. He is garnering interest from colleges in both sports and will have some tough decisions to make ahead if he keeps playing the game at this level. He has been a huge part of Syracuse's 7-0 start

syracuse stars
Player:
Anthony Bird
Position: Forward
Team: Syracuse Stars
Anthony came out of the gates flying in Sept. as he paced the Empire League with 7 goals and 10 assists to lead Syracuse to its first ever 7-0 start. Anthony put up points in all 7 games including a 4 goal effort vs. the Freeze. With his hot Start D 1 schools are already taking notice. He is an "A" student at Central Square HS so school should not be an issue for him. Anthony is the son of Tony and Angela Bird

syracuse stars

Players: Kollyn Jones
Position: Goalie
Team: Syracuse Stars

Goaltender Kollyn Jones was almost impenetrable in September as he registered a miniscule .97 GAAA to match his .970 Save Pct. with 2 shutouts in 4 games. Jones started off the year with a 29 save performance to knock off the always strong Jr. Bruins and carried his play forward from there with back to back shutouts in helping lead Syracuse to an undefeated September. Kollyn is the son of Spike and Tess Jones and the HS senior is looking to continue his stellar play at the next level.
