Empire Players/Coach of the Month Selectees, November 2008
Coach: Ryan Frew
Team: New Hampshire Junior Monarchs
Coach Frew guided his team to a 9-1 record in November and currently has his boys perched at the top of the National Conference. Ryan's recruiting and development of players is the key to the perennial success of the Monarch's Empire team. This season is no exception. In 23 games this season, he has 14 players with double digit scoring, coupled with a stingy defense and top notch net minding (1.83 team GAA).
Ryan's youth and passion for the game belies the fact that he is the 3rd longest tenured Empire coach. The League thanks him for his many contributions on and off the ice.
Team: Capital District Selects Minor B
Mike is a solid defensemen who plays a key role for the Selects at both ends of the rink. Mike had a solid November, propelling him to 3rd overall on the League's defensemen leader board, just one point shy of a three way tie for first. He put up 4 goals and 8 assists in 9 games, figuring into 40% of the team's scoring. His 5 points on the power play, and a GWG in a 5-4 squeaker vs. South Shore, highlight his value to the team. Mike will play a key role in the CD Selects bid to make the playoffs.
Player: Nick Allison
Team: Tri-State Jr. Selects
Over 9 games in November, Nick put up 7 goals and 9 assists. He registered 5 points on the power play and had 2 game winners. Nick paces an offense that scores over 6 goals per game. A hard worker for Tri State game in and game out, Nick currently leads the league most statistical categories. Nick was a standout forward at the U16AAA level last season and hopes to use the 2008-09 campaign to earn himself an EJHL roster spot for next fall. He has an infectious personality that has quickly made him into a leader on this young Selects team.
Player: Petie von Rosenvinge
Team: Junior Bruins
Von Rosenvinge, in his second season with the B's, went 4-0 during the month and helped lead the team to a perfect 7-0 record and into second place in the Conference. His November GAA of 1.25 and Sv % of .957 sets the bar for POTM performance. Petie shut out the previously undefeated Jr. Monarchs in a 1-0 win on the road in Hooksett, NH making 29 saves. He also had a 40 save performance in a 2-1 road win against the Bay State Breakers. Back stopping the youngest team in the league, he currently leads the Empire with a 1.53 GAA and is second overall in save percentage (.932) and shutouts (3).
